The Role

 

With the professionalism of social news, the Senior Social Editor role is most comparable to a traditional News Editor role, more commonly associated with legacy print establishments. For LADbible, the Social Editorial team owns the direct relationship with our huge audience. Consistently we are one of the biggest media sites in the UK, Ireland and Australia.

There is a requirement for a Senior Social Editor to have an intuition to what our audience care about. What are their points of conversation? Why do they care? What makes them laugh, cry. This is an immensely difficult skill to hone, but ultimately incredibly rewarding. A single post can spark a conversation on social between hundreds and thousands of people.

The Senior Social Editor owns the daily traffic and engagement targets. They need to be able to train, motivate and task manage the other Social Editors. The team need to be the first stories as they break, identify themes and trends with the audience that will allow our editorial team to create original content. There is a strong requirement for an analytical brain, being able to measure the success of articles and predict traffic numbers allows for strong days and overnights.

 

Requirements

 

News & Content

  • Comparable experience in a newsroom or content producing arm.
  • Experience of task management, delegation to team members
  • Ability to find stories as they break, before other media outlets
  • Articulate trends, topics and personalities that resonate to our audience, for the editorial team to create original content

Social

  • Ability to create article captions, headlines and images for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
  • Measure success of content using real time analytics and gut intuition
  • Moderate comments
  • Proven ability to adapt and react to changes in social platforms
  • Ability to innovate and improve the product
  • A real passion for ensuring the external image of LADbible improves with the audience
